THE FIRST CHESS TOURNAMENT FOR AGE GROUP 7 YEARS OLD TO WIN THE CHESS TROPHY OF Prof. PURNOMO YUSGIANTORO, Ir., MSc., MA., Ph.D.
Attended by Drs. Grand Master (GM) Utut Adianto, PYC held its first chess tournament for age group 7 years old below on 14 August 2016. The purpose of the chess tournament is to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day. The chess tournament commenced with a brief chess match between Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro and Drs. GM Utut Adianto, witnessed by participants. There were 32 children participating and they came from across Indonesia, such as from DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Cilacap, Tangerang, Surabaya, and Semarang. This was also the first event that was participated by the most number of children age 7 years below in a single chess tournament in Indonesia. With a referee, Mr. Samuel Ramlan, the event was held for 5 rounds. The 1st winner was Claudio V.L from Bogor, the 2nd winner was Aura C.A from Bandung, and the 3rd winner was Athan R.S from DKI Jakarta.
