Indonesia has articulated an ambitious long-term vision to become a developed nation by 2045, widely known as “Indonesia Emas 2045”. As part of this national aspiration, the government has set an economic growth target of approximately 8 percent for 2025-2029, representing a critical milestone toward achieving this vision. In this context, the energy sector plays a pivotal role in supporting Indonesia’s economic transformation. With its abundant energy resources, Indonesia holds significant potential to meet its growing domestic energy demand while reducing dependence on imported energy. At the same time, the country has committed to substantially reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity by 93.5%, as part of its broader development and sustainability agenda.

As Indonesia enters the final two decades leading up to 2045, The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) convened the PYC International Energy Conference (IEC) 2025, a biennial forum dedicated to advancing dialogue on energy policy and development. Held under the theme “Towards Indonesia Emas 2045: Aligning Energy Security, Economic Growth, and Environmental Sustainability”, the conference brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, researchers, experts, policy makers, and the private sector.
