PYC held the 2nd Knowledge Sharing Series (PYC’s KSS) titled, “Energy Condition in Indonesia: An Energy Economics Perspective” on 24 April 2018. The main purpose of selecting this theme is to introduce and to collect inputs and suggestions for the upcoming book of energy economics written by Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro and Dr. Luky Yusgiantoro.
Two Indonesian energy economics practitioners were present as speakers; Dr. Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja and Dr. Pri Agung Rakhmanto. More than 30 participants attended the event and contributed in the two-hours discussion. Dr. Widhyawan was excited with the news of soft launching of the Energy Economic book as he noticed that the last edition of the Energy Economic book authored by Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro in 2009 was one of the most comprehensive Energy Economic books in Indonesia so far, for both theories and relevant case studies. A similar opinion was also stated by Dr. Pri Agung. He added that his interest in energy economics started when he read the very first edition of the Energy Economic book by Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
The discussions led to many inputs for the improvement of the quality of the book, such as the importance of discussing the new and renewable energy, Industry 4.0, Sustainable Development Goal by the United Nations and also the role of energy for the national defence. Furthermore, academic representatives from universities, such as Mr. R.S. Trijana Kartoatmodjo from Universitas Trisakti and Mr. Bambang Irjanto from Universitas Proklamasi 45 Yogyakarta, stated that it is important to have a comprehensive and credible reference book on energy economy in Indonesia. Thus, they hope that the book could be completed on time in the mid-2018 and could be used as an academic reference as soon as possible.
