On December 5, 2018, Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) attended the High-level Policy Roundtable on “Indonesian Manufacturing Development Strategy for 2020 -2024” in Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta. The event was organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) of the Republic of Indonesia and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). The objective of the event was to present and discuss policy recommendations drawn from the background studies jointly conducted by ERIA and Bappenas.
The discussion was also attended by the Minister of National Development Planning, Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro who gave a presentation about the role of the manufacturing industry sector in Indonesia’s overall development. Furthermore, the event was also attended by Mr Airlangga Hartarto as the Minister of Industry. In his presentation, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto highlighted the model of Industry 4.0 for the development of Indonesia’s manufacturing industry.
The presentation was then followed by comments from the panels as well as the audience. All the participants agreed that it is important to revitalize Indonesia’s manufacturing industry sector and hoped that the background studies from ERIA and Bappenas would be able to offer recommendations in the formulation of the National Medium-term Development Plan (RPJMN).
