Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC), in collaboration with Paguyuban Isteri Karyawan dan Warakawuri Kementerian ESDM and Yayasan Kanker Payudara Indonesia held a breast cancer awareness event and mammography check up. Mammography is a process of examining human breasts using low-dose X-rays, generally around 0.7mSv. Mammography is used to identify several types of tumors and cysts.

The event was held on Monday, 15 April 2019 at PYC. This event was aimed to educate women on breast cancer and encourage them to do initial examination. The speaker, Dr. Martha, said that there were a lot of women who were still afraid to carry out initial examination. So when they were treated, they were mostly already at an advanced stage. If breast cancer was identified earlier, the possibility of recovery was at  98%. For this reason, it is advisable that women who are 40 years old should carry out mammography check up.

The mammography check up process began by filling in the patient’s data and medical history. Then, the patient went for a consulting session with the doctor and did the mammography check up at a portable radiology lab. inside a large bus parked in front of PYC. The results came out approximately two weeks after the examination. The mammography check up was attended by members of the PIPW, staff and invitees from PYC, the wives of TNI members and staffs from Kelurahan Melawai.
