The launching date of PYC on 16 June 2016 was held on the same day of our founder’s birthday, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, MSc., MA., Ph.D. It was also a day of celebrating Mrs. Lis Purnomo Yusgiantoro’s birthday, the spouse of Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro. Her birthdate is only a few days apart from her husband. The inauguration itself was held with a simple celebration at the center’s main headquarter, Jl. Wijaya IX no. 12, Jakarta.
Distinguished guests, such as Mr. Alwi Shihab (Coordinating Minister of Economic Affair of the Republic of Indonesia 2004-2005), Mr. Jaya Suprana (The Indonesian Humanist), Mrs. Aylawati Sarwono (Director of Jaya Suprana Schools of Performing Arts) came to the event. Friends and relatives of the founder also came to celebrate together at the newly established research center.
The children and grandchildren of Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro participated in the inauguration by performing a KETOPRAK performance. Ketoprak is a theatrical genre of Java featuring performers who sing and dance with the accompaniment of the gamelan.
The performance was directed by Mr. Luluk Sumiarso’s dance studio named Puspo Budoyo. In this performance, Mr. Luky Yusgiantoro, the eldest child, performed as the Gajah Mada with his wife, Mrs. Ria as Rajendra Dewi. Mr. Inka Yusgiantoro, the second child, performed the Ra Kuti along with his wife, Mrs. Lia as Tribuana. The youngest child, Mrs. Filda Yusgiantoro performed Gayatri and with her husband Mr. Alex Wibowo as Prabu Hayam Wuruk. It was the first time for them to perform a KETOPRAK. Although they only did few practices, they did a splendid performance as invitees gave enthusiastic responses and enjoyed the performance very much.
