Figure 1. The plenary speakers of “Converging Climate Finance in Indonesia” seminar

On October 16, 2019, The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) attended the “Converging Climate Finance in Indonesia” seminar at JW Marriott Hotel, Jakarta. The event brought an action-oriented network of government, development finance, and private sector stakeholders together to discuss climate financing in Indonesia. The seminar was opened by Mrs. Tiza Mafira, the Chair for Yayasan CPI (Climate Policy Initiative) Indonesia. She introduced the transformation of Yayasan CPI Indonesia and current engagements of climate finance to support Indonesia’s NDC targets. The welcoming remark was delivered by Mrs. Amanda Katili, Founder and Board Member of Yayasan CPI Indonesia and Head of Expert Team at the Office of the President’s Special Envoy of Climate Change. 

She explained the current development and obstacles of some investments in climate change mitigation and adaptation in Indonesia. Then the event was followed by plenary speakers: Mrs. Mahua Acharya (Asia Director and Senior Advisor of CPI), Mr. Darwin Trisna Djajawinata (Director of PT SMI), Mr. Dudi Rulliadi (Acting Deputy Director for PKPPIM-focal point NDA GCF Indonesia, Ministry of Finance), and Mr. Dida Gardera (Assistant Deputy for Environmental Conservation, Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs). Plenary speakers delivered their institution’s strategic role and the implementation of some investment funds in climate change. They also offer important solutions to current obstacles queried by some of the participants.
