On November 20, 2019, the Indonesia Mining Award (IMA) 2019 was held in Ballroom 3, Ritz Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta. The event was initiated by the Indonesia Mining Association and supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. IMA 2019 is the highest award ceremony for businesses and companies engaged in mining activities in Indonesia. This event was also attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Minister of Cabinet Secretariat, and Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.
President Joko Widodo, in his remarks, said that mining activities had contributed a lot to state revenue. According to him, not only in the world but also in Indonesia, many rich people accumulate their wealth from mining. These people have contributed a lot in tax payments. President Joko Widodo received the highest award in mining from the Indonesian Mining Association at the event. He received the award because he was acknowledged for his support for domestic mining industry.
In addition to President Joko Widodo, awards were given to 23 mining companies in Indonesia. The award is for 12 categories, namely the best Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) payer, the largest PNBP payer, the best environmental management, the best mining safety management, the realization of the best company investment based on the Work Plan and Budget, the largest domestic expenditure, the best product users domestic companies, mining service companies that carry out the best mining principles, implement the best community empowerment, implement the best follow-up mineral conversion, the best integrated downstream, and supply the highest percentage of coal Domestic Market Obligation (DMO). Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) mining company won most of the awards (eight awards), followed by Kideco Jaya Agung, that received five awards. Then, Meares Soputan Mining, J Resources, Bukit Asam, and Timah each received four awards.
