The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) attended the Grand Seminar with topic “Empowering  Potential, Institution, and Human Resource, Towards Massive EOR Implementation in Indonesia”. This event was held on February 15, 2020 at Griya Legita Auditorium, Pertamina University. PYC was invited as the supporter of the seminar.

It was one of the pre-events of Petroleum Integrated Competition (PROTECT) 2020 which was held by Petroleum Engineering Students Association “SPRUDA” of Pertamina University and Indonesian Petroleum Technology Expert Association (SM-IATMI) of Pertamina University.

The first speaker, Mr. Yayan Setiawan from SKK Migas, presented the progress of the implementation of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in Indonesia. The second speaker was Mr. Usman from Lemigas. He mainly talked about the technical aspects of EOR. The last speaker, Mr. Suryono Adisoemarta who represented IATMI Committee, explained the EOR development process.

EOR had been successfully implemented in Indonesia at Duri Field, but it took more than 20 years to full-field. It also needed full commitment and painstaking from many parties during the process. Therefore, massive implementation of EOR in Indonesia is possible, since Indonesia has hundreds of potential oil and gas wells and fields. In addition, support from private sector and government in terms of funding, logistic, etc., are needed. In order to achieve that goals, we also need operators and engineers (human resources) with high competence which are expected to come from today’s college students as the successors of EOR implementation in Indonesia.
