On 7-8 March 2024, the PYC Research Team embarked on an expedition to Batam, located in the Riau Islands.The first day of the visit was initiated with a meeting at PT PLN Batam, which is the General Electricity Business License Holder (PIUKU) in the Batam, Rempang, Galang, and surrounding areas. The PYC Research Team had the opportunity to engage with the Corporate Secretary, Public Relations Manager, and other staff members of PT PLN Batam. The discussions revolved around the company’s business operations, strategic planning, and the challenges and opportunities associated with the development of Renewable Energy Sources (EBT) within the electricity sector under the jurisdiction of PT PLN Batam.
On the first day of the visit, the PYC Research Team continued their activities by meeting and discussing with the Batam Authority (BP). The PYC Team interacted with the Head of the Free Trade Zone development, Free Port, and macroeconomics. The BP Batam was an institution closely related to the history and designation of Batam as a special authority. According to Presidential Decree Number 41 of 1973, the development of Batam was entrusted to the Batam Industrial Development Regional Authority, now known as BP Batam. Furthermore, the PYC Research Team discussed the development and investment in renewable energy component industries in Batam and surrounding areas. BP Batam also explained the readiness of several industrial areas preparing for the energy transition.
The day’s activities continued with a meeting with the Batam Pengusahaan (BP), a key institution intrinsically linked to Batam’s history and special designation. The PYC Team interacted with the Head of Free Trade Zone development, Free Port, and macroeconomics at BP Batam. According to Presidential Decree Number 41 of 1973, Batam’s development was entrusted to the Batam Industrial Development Regional Authority, now referred to as BP Batam.
