On 24 October 2024, the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC), as a member of the Energy Transition Policy Development Forum (ETP Forum), took part in a media discussion titled “Leading the Shift: Energy Transition and Net-Zero Emissions under the Prabowo–Gibran Administration.” The event served as a strategic platform to present key policy insights and recommendations on accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition to the incoming government.

The ETP Forum is a collaborative initiative comprising several research and policy institutions committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions. Its members include Climateworks Centre (CWC), Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC), Centre for Policy Development (CPD), Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID), and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Together, they aim to promote evidence-based policies that support a more rapid and practical shift towards net-zero emissions.

During the media discussion, the ETP Forum presented nine key policy recommendations for the Prabowo–Gibran administration, particularly in the energy sector. These recommendations addressed a range of strategic issues including energy subsidy reform, expanding energy access in underdeveloped and remote regions (known as 3T areas), monetizing carbon’s economic value, and integrating a GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) lens in policy development.

Representing PYC, Filda Citra Yusgiantoro, Chairperson of the organization, actively participated in the discussion and voiced support for the joint recommendations put forth by the ETP Forum. Her presence underscored PYC’s ongoing commitment to promoting an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable energy transition in Indonesia.

Through its active role in the ETP Forum, PYC hopes that the outcomes of this discussion can serve as meaningful input for the new administration in crafting responsive and forward-looking energy policies that align with both climate goals and national development priorities.
