Figure 1. Discussion session during the ITB Professor’s Forum
On Friday, 25 January 2019, Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) attended the ITB’s Professors Forum (Forum Guru Besar, FGB) in Bandung. The forum discussion topic was the “Overview of Indonesia’s Energy Policy” and it was also the first forum for the Energy Discussion Series. The Energy Discussion Series will also cover the topic of renewable energy, coal, as well as the oil and gas sector which will hopefully contribute a recommendation for the next administration on the energy sector.
In this forum, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro gave a brief presentation on the history of Indonesia’s energy policy from the 1960s to 2010s and the Quo Vadis of Indonesia’s energy sector. The presentation provided an in-depth overview of the policy as well as the energy and economic condition on each period. Finally, the presentation also raised questions on several aspects of Indonesia’s energy sector. The presentation was concluded with discussions between the forum participants.
The forum ended with a closing statement from Prof. Tutuka Ariadji as the head of the forum. Prof. Tutuka is hopeful that the forum will be able to provide a chance for professors to contribute more to Indonesia’s energy sector.
