On Monday, 10 November 2025 the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) served as one of the co-organizers of a Media Briefing alongside five other institutions—ClimateWorks Centre, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID), and the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). These organizations are part of the Energy Transition Policy (ETP) Dialogue Forum, a collaborative platform aimed at strengthening policy dialogue on Indonesia’s energy transition.
In her presentation, PYC Senior Fellow, Farida Z. Arifin emphasized the critical role of the media in advancing the national energy transition agenda. She noted that PYC continues to encourage active engagement from media professionals to participate in discussions and provide insights on energy transition policies from a journalistic perspective. According to her, media involvement is essential in fostering broader public understanding and ensuring informed discourse on energy policy development.
The Media Briefing served as a follow-up to policy recommendations on energy governance for the administration of President Prabowo, which were first formulated in 2024. Overall, the recommendations highlight the importance of strengthening policy frameworks and governance in the energy sector to accelerate the transition toward clean energy, while also ensuring economic and social sustainability throughout the implementation process.
Through this forum, the participating institutions aim to create a constructive space for dialogue between policymakers, research organizations, and the media, enabling energy transition policies to be critically monitored, communicated transparently, and aligned with long-term public interests.
