PT Pertamina held its annual Pertamina Energy Forum in Raffles Hotel Jakarta on November 28 – 29, 2018. The forum was divided into two days with plenary and panel session in both days. The forum raised the theme of “Unleashing Domestic Resources for Energy Security” with a focus on the potential utilization of new and renewable energy in Indonesia.
On the first day, the forum invited Mr. Darmin Nasution as the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia who in this occasion pointed out the importance of national resources optimization. There were three panel discussions on the first day with the following themes: 1) Outlook of Indonesia’s Energy Security; 2) Accelerating Bio Energy Development for Energy Security, and 3) Unlocking the Untapped Potential of Coal as New Energy.
The second day of the forum started with keynote speeches from Mr. Ignasius Jonan as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources as well as Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs. Both Mr. Ignasius Jonan and Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan highlighted the importance of PT Pertamina’s role in fulfilling and securing the national energy sector. After the keynote speeches session, two panel discussions were held with the topics of 1) Optimizing New and Renewable Utilization in Indonesia; and 2) Optimizing Gas as an Alternative Fuel.
In the end, PT Pertamina as the national energy company is committed to continuing its development in order to fulfill the growing energy demand. Additionally, the shifting of energy from fossil to renewable is one aspect that PT Pertamina put attention to as PT Pertamina will now also expand its business to the renewable energy sector.
