On 12 December 2024, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Founder of the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC), accompanied by Massita Ayu Cindy, PYC’s Research Coordinator, was invited as the sole speaker at the IGS Energy Talk 2024. This annual forum, organized by the Indonesian Gas Society (IGS), serves as a strategic platform for discussing the latest developments and key issues in Indonesia’s natural gas sector.
With its inclusive and multi-stakeholder format, the IGS Energy Talk brings together a wide array of participants—including natural gas producers, transmission and distribution players, end users, regulators, and government representatives. The diversity of participants reflects the complex landscape of Indonesia’s gas industry and provides a valuable space for exchanging insights and perspectives.
In his keynote presentation, Prof. Purnomo shared critical thoughts on enhancing governance in the natural gas sector, particularly concerning allocation mechanisms and gas pricing. He emphasized the need for strong alignment between national energy policies and industrial demands, and underscored the strategic role of natural gas as a key pillar in building a resilient and sustainable energy system.Through this engagement, both PYC and IGS reaffirmed their shared commitment to improving the quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of Indonesia’s natural gas industry. This initiative is expected to not only support sustainable national economic growth but also to maximize the role of natural gas as a transitional energy source in Indonesia’s journey toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
