On Wednesday, 21 January 2026, the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) hosted a Visitation and Expert Lecture for students of the Energy Security Study Program, Faculty of Defense Management, Universitas Pertahanan Republik Indonesia (Indonesian Defense University/Unhan RI). This activity was part of an effort to strengthen the academic and strategic understanding of national energy security issues for the students, as well as the role of various stakeholders in supporting Indonesia’s energy sector.
The event was opened with a welcome address by the Chairperson of PYC, Filda Citra Yusgiantoro, who emphasized the important role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supporting the development of the national energy sector. In her remarks, she highlighted that collaboration among government, academia, industry, civil society, and the media is essential to address future energy challenges, particularly in the context of energy transition and national resilience.
The program continued with an Expert Lecture delivered by Massita Ayu Cindy, Coordinator of the PYC Research Department, titled “Pentahelix Collaboration in Supporting National Energy Security.” In her presentation, Ayu underlined the importance of cross-sector collaboration through the pentahelix model as a key strategy to support Indonesia’s energy transformation. She explained that strong synergy among government, academia, the private sector, civil society, and the media is crucial to formulate sustainable, inclusive, and long-term energy policies.
She also emphasized that national energy challenges cannot be addressed by a single actor alone, but instead require integrated and collective efforts to enable Indonesia to achieve energy independence and national energy security amid global dynamics and geopolitical changes.
As the closing activity, the students were given the opportunity to take a tour of PYC’s facilities, including visits to the Library, Gallery, and Command Center. This session aimed to provide broader insight into the role, functions, and contributions of PYC as a center for energy policy research and development in Indonesia.
Through this visit, it is expected that Unhan RI students will gain strategic insights and practical perspectives on national energy security issues, while strengthening their capacity as future national leaders in realizing an independent and resilient energy sector for Indonesia.
