On 3 November 2025, the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) organized PYC Talks under the theme “Indonesia’s National Security in the Dynamics of Global Challenges,” held at the Grand on Thamrin Ballroom, Pullman Thamrin Hotel, Jakarta. This forum examined national security from an academic perspective by highlighting the implications of evolving global challenges for Indonesia’s national security conditions, while emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive security approach in responding to changes in the global order.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Founder of PYC, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, who underscored the urgency of strengthening strategic thinking and research-based analysis in the formulation of national security policies. The program then continued with a keynote speech by General (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who shared strategic insights on global security challenges and their implications for Indonesia’s national interests. The panel discussion session was moderated by Edy Prasetyono, Ph.D., and featured distinguished speakers from both academic and practitioner backgrounds in national security, namely Dr. phil. Yandry Kurniawan, Dr. Andi Widjajanto, Major General TNI Ari Yulianto, and Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana.
During the discussion, the speakers addressed a range of strategic issues, including global geopolitical dynamics, non-traditional security threats, and the importance of synergy between state and non-state actors in maintaining national stability and resilience. The dialogue also emphasized the need for adaptive, inclusive, and cross-sectoral security policies to effectively respond to increasingly multidimensional security challenges.
The event concluded with closing remarks by the Chairwoman of PYC, Filda C. Yusgiantoro, Ph.D., who reaffirmed PYC’s role as a platform for strategic dialogue and policy-oriented research on national security issues. Through PYC Talks, PYC reiterated its commitment to strengthening research and fostering comprehensive discussions on national security that are firmly grounded in Indonesia’s national interests amid an increasingly complex global environment.
