Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Founder of the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) and Special Presidential Advisor on Energy Affairs was the keynote speaker at the One-Day Public Lecture titled “Energy Transition Towards a Low-carbon Economy”. The event, organized by the University of Dundee, in collaboration with PLN, SKK Migas, the British Council, and the British High Commission, was held in Jakarta on 19 February 2025.

In his keynote address, Prof. Purnomo emphasized the crucial role of the energy sector as the driving force for national economic growth. He explained that the energy transition towards a low-carbon economy is not merely an environmental agenda, but an integral component of sustainable and inclusive development strategies.

Prof. Purnomo highlighted that the success of the energy transition heavily relies on strong synergy among the government, industry players, academia, and society, supported by the adoption of innovative and efficient technologies. With a collaborative and innovation-driven approach, the shift to cleaner energy sources can not only reduce carbon emissions, but also ensure energy security, maintain affordability, and sustain economic stability.

He further stressed the importance of adaptive and forward-looking policies to guide this transformation, enabling Indonesia to balance its environmental commitments with the demands of competitive economic growth in the global landscape.
