Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) and Monash University, represented in this partnership by the Climateworks Centre (CWC), officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Net Zero Campus Initiatives on 17 November 2025 in Melbourne, Australia. This strategic partnership marks an important step in strengthening international collaboration to support Indonesia’s transition toward Net Zero Emissions.
The Chairperson of PYC, Filda C. Yusgiantoro, emphasized that the initiative is designed to empower universities as living laboratories for innovation and sustainable development. Through this approach, campuses are expected to play an active role as hubs for policy innovation, applied research, and the demonstration of clean energy solutions that can be scaled beyond the academic environment. Meanwhile, Anna Skarbek, CEO of the Climateworks Centre, highlighted PYC’s strategic role in fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and evidence-based clean energy ecosystem in Indonesia.
The Net Zero Campus Initiatives program will actively engage a wide range of stakeholders, including government institutions, the private sector, research organizations, and universities, to establish a Net Zero Campus Indonesia network. This collaboration aims to generate research insights, policy recommendations, and best practices that support energy system transformation and carbon emission reduction across higher education institutions.
Looking ahead, this partnership is expected to serve as a catalyst for strengthening Indonesia’s national capacity in energy transition efforts, while reinforcing the role of higher education institutions as key agents of change toward a low-carbon future. Through this initiative, the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center reaffirms its commitment to contribute meaningfully for a more sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive Indonesia.
